01 — Overview
Our Privacy Commitment
Alarm Lock ("the App", "we", "us") is a private, local-only security application. This Privacy Policy describes the information practices of the App. Because the App is designed specifically to protect your private media, privacy is not an afterthought — it is the foundation of everything we build.
This policy applies to the Alarm Lock iOS application available on the Apple App Store. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this document.
02 — Data Collection
Information We Collect
We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information.
No Account Required
The App never asks for your name, email address, phone number, or any identifying information.
No Network Activity
The App makes no outbound network requests. All operations are performed entirely on-device.
No Cookies or Tracking
We use no cookies, analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or third-party data services.
No Analytics
We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or any diagnostic data from your device.
03 — Local Storage
What the App Stores on Your Device
The App stores the following data exclusively on your local device, inside the app's private sandbox, inaccessible to other apps:
| Data | Storage Location | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Vault password (hashed) | iOS UserDefaults (shared_preferences) | Authenticates access to the hidden vault |
| Security question & answer | iOS UserDefaults (shared_preferences) | Allows password recovery if forgotten |
| Alarm data (time, label, toggle state) | Local SQLite database | Powers the decoy alarm clock interface |
| Imported photos & videos | App Documents directory | Stored privately inside the vault folders you create |
| Video thumbnails | App Documents directory | Preview images generated locally for video files |
| Onboarding completion flag | iOS UserDefaults | Tracks whether setup has been completed |
All data listed above never leaves your device. It is not synced to iCloud, backed up to external servers, or accessible to us or any third party in any way.
04 — Device Permissions
App Permissions
The App may request the following iOS permissions. Each is used solely for the local feature described:
Photo Library Access
Required to let you select photos and videos from your gallery to import into the vault. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Notifications (Optional)
May be used in future versions to surface alarm reminders locally on-device. Never used for marketing.
You may revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security. Revoking Photo Library access will prevent importing new files but will not affect files already inside the vault.
05 — Third Parties
Third-Party Services
Alarm Lock does not use any third-party services that collect data. The App uses only the following open-source Flutter packages, all of which operate entirely on-device:
- sqflite — local SQLite database for alarm storage
- shared_preferences — local key-value storage for settings
- path_provider — accesses device file system paths locally
- photo_manager — reads your photo library locally on-device only
- video_player — plays video files stored locally
- haptic_feedback — triggers on-device haptic vibrations
- in_app_review — may prompt you to rate the app via Apple's native review dialog. Apple's standard privacy practices apply.
- google_fonts — loads font files that are bundled with the app at build time. No runtime network calls are made.
None of these packages transmit data externally. No advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs are included.
06 — Children's Privacy
Children Under 13
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and is not intended for use by minors. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the App collects no personal data whatsoever, no special risk exists; however, parental guidance is advised for minors using security or vault applications.
07 — Security
Data Security
Because all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your files depends on the security of your device itself. We strongly recommend:
- Setting a strong device passcode or Face ID / Touch ID.
- Keeping iOS updated to receive the latest security patches.
- Choosing a unique, hard-to-guess vault password that you will remember.
- Not sharing your device with untrusted individuals.
Important: Uninstalling or deleting the App permanently and irrecoverably destroys all vault contents, including all photos and videos you have imported. There is no cloud backup and no way to recover deleted files. Always ensure you have copies of important media before managing the app.
08 — Your Rights
Your Rights & Controls
Because the App stores no personal information on external servers, standard data-subject rights (access, deletion, portability) apply entirely within your own device:
- Access your data — all data is on your device, in the app's private files.
- Delete your data — delete individual files from within the app, or uninstall the app to erase everything.
- Reset preferences — reset your vault password or security question at any time from within the vault settings.
If you are in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (such as GDPR or CCPA), as we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to request, correct, or transfer from our side.
09 — Updates
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page will be revised. Continued use of the App after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes, we will provide notice within the App or on the App Store listing.
