At Bible AI Reader, we believe that your spiritual journey is deeply personal. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and ensuring you have complete visibility and control over your data. We build our app under the following fundamental core principles:

Local First: Personal configuration, reading streaks, and logs remain on your device. We do not maintain remote cloud user accounts with email addresses or social logins.
Minimal AI Transmission: Only the specific inputs required to generate your requested devotionals, guides, audio, or chat answers are sent to third-party AI backend services.
No Model Training: API processors and routing providers (including OpenRouter) process requests transiently for generation only. Your prompts are not used to train AI models.

2. Data Collected & Stored Strictly On-Device

The vast majority of data generated while using Bible AI Reader is stored locally in secure storage on your device (using SharedPreferences and local databases). This data never leaves your device:

Reading History & Streaks: Completed Bible chapters, daily reading streaks, and streak repair items.
Bookmarks & Favorites: Saved scriptures, favorite devotionals, and personal study notes.
Daily Notification Schedules: Preferred Morning (🌅) and Evening (🌙) reminder notification times.
Local App Settings: Selected theme, text font size preferences, and offline cache storage.

💡 Note: You can clear all locally stored data at any time by clearing application data in your device settings or by uninstalling the app.

To provide custom scripture reflections, study guides, AI companion chat responses, and natural voice narration, Bible AI Reader connects to secure AI backend microservices routed via OpenRouter and specialized AI models. Below is a full, transparent breakdown of what is transmitted when you use each feature:

Security & Anonymity Controls

No Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We do not send email addresses, phone numbers, real names, contacts, photos, or location data to OpenRouter or AI model providers.
Anonymous Authentication Tokens: API requests carry an anonymous Firebase Auth token and a Firebase App Check token solely to verify request authenticity and prevent automated abuse.
Encrypted Channels: All communication with backend endpoints and OpenRouter API gateways is protected via TLS 1.3 / SSL encrypted HTTPS requests.

4. Third-Party Infrastructure & Service Providers

Our application leverages secure third-party infrastructure providers to execute AI features and ensure reliability:

OpenRouter (OpenRouter Inc.): We route AI text generation requests (companion chat, personal devotionals, chapter study guides) through OpenRouter's secure API routing platform. Requests are transmitted anonymously without personal account identifier links. Cloudflare Workers AI: Processes natural text-to-speech audio requests (MeloTTS) and backend API routing transiently. Cloudflare is contractually bound to process data strictly for fulfillment.
Firebase (Authentication & App Check): Provides anonymous user session IDs and device attestation tokens to secure backend API endpoints without collecting personal user profiles.
Local System Frameworks: Notification alerts and media playback utilize native iOS (UserNotifications, AudioToolbox) and Android (AlarmManager, MediaPlayer) operating system APIs locally on device.

5. Your Privacy Rights & Choices

You maintain full ownership and control over your preferences:

Notification Preferences: Toggle or reschedule Morning and Evening notification reminders inside Profile settings.
Data Deletion: Clear chat history within the AI Companion screen or reset app storage via your device settings to wipe all local data.
System Permissions: Grant or revoke notification or audio permissions anytime via system settings.
